Top 4 of Marlon Brando!

Marlon Brando is an icon.Everybody knows him or at least, they should. I think that I don't have to introduce him. He was a movie star and now he is a legend who revolutionized acting forever. Today, I'd like to present four films of Brando that I like the most.

#4 On the Waterfront by Elia Kazan
This drama tells the story of former boxer Terry Mannoy who is involved in mafia business on the waterfronts of Hoboken. The movie shows the inner struggle: Terry knows that he does wrong but he is a little bit scared.
Because of the role of Malloy, Brando got an Acadamy Award.

#3 Apocalypse Now by Francis Coppola
An epic movie adapts novel Heart of Darkness written by Joseph Conrad and describe the adventures of Captain Willard who has to find and kill insane Colonel Kurtz during Vietnam War. The role of Captain Willard was played by Martin Sheen who was often under inluence of alcohol and drugs. The very fist scene was actually recorded when Sheen was stoned. Coppola decided that this very scene is so real and moving that he didn't remove it.

#2 The Godfather by Francis Coppola
The Godfather, a classic of a cinema. A film that changed cinematography, so well-known that probably I don't have to tell about it but I will do it anyway. The movie based on the novel by Mario Puzo shows the intrigues of the family Corleone - one of the most important mafia families in New York.
The role of Godfather gave second Academy Award to Brando but he turned it down. Brando didn't agree with Amarican way of treatment of Native Americans.

The "unacceptence" speech.

#1 A Streetcar Named Desire  by Elia Kazan
Adapted from Tennessee Wiliams play under the same tittle drama tells the story of beautiful Blanche Dubois who decide to move to her sister - Stella and her brother-in-law Stanley Kowalski.
Blanche is very specific person. She always wants to be in the centre of attention. She has to be loved and andored by many so she gets confused when she can't get the interest of Stanley. Blanche will mess up in the Kowalskis live.

  1. These are all milestones in the history of cinema for sure. And he declined an Oscar? For The Godfather? I don't think I've heard that before! Do you know why he did that?
