The Top 4 Led Zeppelin's album!

I'm so sorry that you had to wait so long for this post but, finally, I'm ready to share it with you.
I am a huuuge fan of Led Zeppelin, honestly, I love them. I consider this band as devine. I mentioned something about it in one of the posts before but then I was focusing the band's members and their life and right now I'm going to tell some words about their amazing music.
My love to Led Zeppelin started with epic song from the second album called "Thank You" that was written by Plant for his wife. Later, I started to get into it and now, I'm ready to recommend you four the best albums that was ever released!

#4 Led Zeppelin III
Third LZ's album released 5 October 1970 by Atlantic Records
Page and Plant was very impressed by the folk style of The Band - a very popular band appreciated by Eric Clapton himslef and decided to hide in the Bron-Yr-Aur, a cottage without the electricity or tap water. There, without the normal goods, far away from crowds and rush, they could devote themselves to writing the songs. During walking throug a meadow and flowers, they created material for a new album but also shreds for hits like Stairway to Heaven or The Rover
That trip was not only an inspiration for the new album but also created a bond between Page and Plant. They weren't just the co-workers but also the friends now.
This folk and acoustic sounds didn't cause a sensation; in the USA it got a status "only" 6x Platinum but after time it recevied recognition and became considered as one of the most importants album in the Led Zeppelin's career.
I totally fell in love with this album when I heard Since I've Been Loving You and Tangerine. They are the great musical masterpieces! Later, I heard Out Of the Tiles and right now I can't imagine Led Zeppelin without this CD.

#3 Led Zeppelin II
Released in 1969 by Atlantic Records.
Songs were recorded in hurry in the breaks between concerts and interviews under the pressure of the Atlantic. Page was stressed that this rush spoil the material; he didn't want to let the fans down. However, the amazing energy and the coherence of the particular songs persueded Jimmy that it's gonna be a great thing. And it became. For sure, this succes was guaranteed by Whole Lotta Love - an extraordinary track with voices of a women, a foundry, the bombs and the theremin in the background that unfortunately occures a cover.
Yeah, yeah, words for the one of the most known LZ's songs was originally written by Willy Dixon and then played by Muddy Waters in his version of You Need Love. What is more, the "new arrangement" was very similar to this one played by The Small Faces on their concerts.
This album, as the first and only, pushed Beatles' Abbey Road down in two times! Moreover, it got a certification of 12x Platinum in the USA.
Because of this album my journey with LZ started. Firstly, I've heard Whole Lotta Love, later Thank You, that warmed, my heart an then this amazingly joyful Ramble On and I fell in love.

  6. Living Loving Maid (She's Just a Woman) (Page, Plant) - 2:39
  7. Ramble On (Page, Plant) - 4:34
  8. Moby Dick (Bonham, Jones, Page) - 4:20
  9. Bring It On Home (Dixon) - 4:19

#2 Houses of The Holy
The fifth album was released, surprisingly, by Atlantic Records on 28 March 1973.
This album differs from the previous ones. Earlier, Led Zeppelin tried to create a connected whole; here, Page and the rest do what they want. Every song is different, inspired by various kinds of music like funk, reggae or groove. A huge surprise is a track No Quarter in which Plant's vocal is synthesized by distorion effect.
The critics and the audience was waiting for another great hit like Stairway to Heaven or Whole Lotta Love but they didn't get them, that is why, this album - just like the third one - was very underestimated. However it got the 11x Platinum status in the USA.
I decided to place this album on the second posistion because, in my opinion, this one shows the self-confidence of the band, their independence and maturity. Furthermore, there was a time when I was listening to No Quarted, The Ocean and The Song Remains the Same for a long hours, day after day.
Controversial cover by Hipgnosis

  1. "The Song Remains the Same" (Page, Plant) - 5:28

  4. "The Crunge" (Bonham, Jones, Page, Plant) - 3:13
  5. "Dancing Days" (Page, Plant) - 3:41
  6. "D'yer Mak'er" (Bonham, Jones, Page, Plant) - 4:22
  7. "No Quarter" (Jones, Page, Plant) - 7:00
  8. "The Ocean" (Bonham, Jones, Page, Plant) - 4:30

#1 Led Zeppelin I
This very first album was released on 12 January 1969 in the United States and on 31 March in the UK by Atlantic Records of course. Led Zeppelin was just starting their career and time spend in the studio very expensive that is why band recorded this album in about 36 hours. More of the costs was covered by Page himself. He was assured that it's an investition that will come back soon.
After the release, Led Zeppelin was accussed by the another bands for plagiarism.  For instance, "Dazed and Confused" one of the most recognizable songs was written Jake Holmes not Page as it's written on the back side of the album. In fact, only three songs was originally written by Page.
Critics didn't receive this album very well but the audiance just loved it and made the first album a huge financial succes (for example, in US it was sold by  8 000 000 copies, therefore, it got a stasus of 8x Platinum) and provided the band a great music career.
Why do I love this album so much? Because it started everything! Every single member of the group joined into one coherent organism that changed music history forever. Led Zeppelin became an inspiration for houndreds musicians who started to believe in their abilities. Of course, I'm aware of the fact that this album is an one huge hidden cover but still, it's a beginning of my best music journey ever. Listening to Babe, I'm gonna leave you creates so many different feelings and emotions. It's so wonderful that one simple song can do that. I can't find any another band like this. Probably, it's the only one.

 Cover designed by George Hardie.
 Track list:
  1. Good Times Bad Times (Bonham/Jones/Page) - 2:46
  2. Babe I'm Gonna Leave You (Bredon/Page/Plant) - 6:41
  3. You Shook Me (Dixon/Lenoir) - 6:28
  4. Dazed and Confused (Page) - 6:25
  5. Your Time Is Gonna Come (Jones/Page) - 4:34
  6. Black Mountain Side (Page) - 2:12
  7. Communication Breakdown (Bonham/Jones/Page) - 2:30
  8. I Can't Quit You Baby (Dixon) - 4:42
  9. How Many More Times (Bonham/Jones/Page) - 8:27

As you can see, I didn't place here the fourth album which is considered as the best album of LZ but, in my opinion, it is not so good as peaople say. It's just a well known because of the Stairway to Heaven. I think that it is too much commerciolized. Even Robert Plant was fed up with that song and didn't want to sing it anymore. Maybe it's catchy but Led Zeppelin should be recognised by hits like Since I've Been Loving You, Kashmir, Ramble On  or The Ocean which is more Zeppelin - styled.

In making of this post I was suported by Mick Wall's book When Giants Walked the Earth. I recommend it to everyone who would like to find out very interesting informations about it, why Houses of the Holy cover was so controversial, what's going on with a very famous fish accident or what Jimmy Page has in common with Crowley and much, much more.
